Description Macy Street viaduct, main span of finished bridge. Macy Street viaduct (bridge) is one of a group of 12 river bridges significant for their role in the transportation history of Los Angeles and their association with Chief Engineer Merrill Butler, a major bridge designer of the era, most of which were built between 1923 and 1928. Designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 1979.
